Optimizing Adaptation & Performance

Deliver better results to your athletes by learning the most effective strategies to integrate strength and conditioning, sports science, and advanced nutrition into a comprehensive program!

The field of sport performance is rapidly evolving.

      • The importance of strength and conditioning is more widely recognized and appreciated than ever before.
      • There is more applied sports research being published than ever before.
      • There are more opportunities to work in the field than ever before.

This is an incredibly exciting time to work in sports performance.

But with this growth comes several challenges.

There is more opportunity, but significantly more responsibility.

More recognition, but significantly more pressure.

More available information, but less clarity.

Strength and Conditioning Coaches aren’t just responsible for putting together a good training program. Now you’re expected to:

  • Understand movement assessments and how they relate to injury risk and sport performance
  • Design special programs to recondition athletes recovering from injury or surgery
  • Integrate technology to monitor workloads and recovery
  • Analyze data for meaningful insight, and design reports to effectively communicate with athletes, coaches, and management
  • Educate athletes on proper sleep habits and the consequences of suboptimal sleep
  • Make nutrition and supplementation recommendations to facilitate improved health, performance, and recovery

And while some S&C coaches are fortunate to work within a comprehensive performance team alongside rehab professionals, nutritionists, and sports scientists, most are not.

And even those that do are expected to know enough about the other fields to communicate seamlessly.

Simply, strength and conditioning coaches are spread thinner than ever, and expected to know more than ever.

And as the amount of information within the field continues to grow, it becomes harder and harder to filter out the noise to determine what actually works.

This is exactly why we put together the Optimizing Adaptation & Performance seminar…

Three of the best professionals in the industry, spending 8+ hours talking about best practices and real-world situations. It’s a no-brainer to pick this up.

They’ve done the work to make my job easier.

The talks about optimizing in-season training were extremely helpful.

The work that James is doing is groundbreaking.

Devan McConnell

Optimizing Adaptation and Performance with Mike Potenza, Kevin Neeld, and James Lavalle was a really unique experience, combining the expertise of two Strength and Conditioning Coaches working in pro sports, with one of the world’s most foremost experts in nutrition and supplementation strategies to optimize human performance. The seminar covered everything from program design to sports science to advanced nutrition strategies. I couldn’t recommend this resource any more highly.

Sarah Cahill

The Optimizing Adaptation and Performance seminar was an incredible opportunity to learn with some of the best practitioners in the field. I really enjoyed the combination of up to date research and practical application. I took away several tangible strategies to immediately implement with my clients.

Meet the Team…

James LaValle

James LaValle is one of the world’s leading experts in clinical pharmacology. In addition to consulting with collegiate and professional teams, Olympic athletes, and major pharmaceutical and nutrition companies like Bayer, CVS, Rite Aid, P&G, Helsin, and Thorne Research, he has authored 16 ebooks and 20 books including his most recently book, Your Blood Never Lies, and his best seller, Cracking the Metabolic Code. He was also selected to direct the Pro Football Hall of Fame state of the art performance and health rejuvenation facility at the Institute for a Hall of Fame Life in Canton, OH. James specializes in using blood markers to create an individualized plan to nutrition and supplementation.

Kevin Neeld

Kevin Neeld is the Head Performance Coach for the Boston Bruins, where he oversees all aspects of designing and implementing the team's performance training program, as well as monitoring the players’ performance, workload and recovery. Prior to Boston, Kevin spent 2 years as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the San Jose Sharks after serving as the Director of Performance at Endeavor Sports Performance, and as a Strength and Conditioning Coach with the US Women’s Olympic Ice Hockey Team. Known for using movement and performance tests as diagnostic tools to individualize training programs, and for integrating current sports science research within his training and recovery prescription, Kevin has been an invited speaker at conferences hosted by the NHL, NSCA, and USA Hockey. He’s currently a Doctoral candidate in Rocky Mountain University’s Human and Sport Performance program.

Mike Potenza

Mike Potenza is entering his 13th year as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for the San Jose Sharks, which he joined after working at Wisconsin, Harvard and Colgate. He was also the Director of Performance for two United States Air Force Pararescue teams within the National Guard Bureau, overseeing performance testing, program design and implementation, establishing reporting metrics on injury trends, resource usage and team readiness, as well as directing the physical therapist and orthopedic manual therapist for the forces. In both settings, Mike is heavily involved with directing rehabilitation and reconditioning efforts to help bridge the gap between acute rehab and a full return to elite level performance/competition.

Ben Peterson

Jim has done more to change my views on nutrition and supplementation than anyone else in the industry. Applying his methods, my players have seen significant improvements in their blood chemistry and sleep quality during the season. If you are looking for forward thinking ways to help your athletes, learning from Dr. LaValle is one of the best investments you can make. I strongly recommend attending any conference where you can hear him present.

Mike Boyle

In my mind Kevin Neeld is one of the top strength and conditioning coaches in the hockey world. It’s not often I turn to younger coaches for advice, but Kevin is a guy I count on to be on top of all the latest info, and to use it with his athletes.

Joe Pavelski

Mike Potenza has created a higher level of training for me as a professional hockey player.  We began creating my training foundation and training standards 14 years ago at the University of Wisconsin and he continues to raise the bar with new hockey related training in my pro career.  His methods have allowed me to develop into a better NHL player each season.

Nelson Ayotte

Nobody else in this field has extensively studied the human metabolism functions like Dr. LaValle. His courses will make you re-think your own training methodologies and push them to a superior level.

Nelson Ayotte High Performance Director, Columbus Blue Jackets

Johnny Gaudreau

I’ve trained with Kevin since before my first year of juniors. As a smaller guy, having the ability to create time and space has been crucial to my success. Kevin’s programs have helped me develop the speed and quickness I need to compete at the highest levels, and the conditioning to continue pushing the pace late in games. If you’re looking to fulfill your potential, Kevin is the guy to help you get there.

Patrick Marleau

Mike Potenza is always looking for ways to get better, to push people like me to reach their absolute best. I’ve worked with Mike for 13 years and I can say without a doubt he is the one person I trust implicitly with my training.
